What Is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses intense pulses of non-coherent light that range of wavelengths.  OptiLight IPL uses specific wavelengths to target the conditions of MGD and dry eye inflamation and causes.   IPL is different than laser light which uses coherent, focused light.  IPL is used increasingly for skin rejuvenation and beauty treatments.

How Does OptiLight IPL Work?

Broad spectrum pulsed light is transmitted through a continuously cooled applicator, gently placed over the skin.  The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by damaged cells. The body’s natural processes then clears the lesion debris, giving the tissue a more natural, non-inflamed, even and youthful appearance. Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™) gives consistent,  gentler, more comfortable  treatments.

Is there any downtime after treatment?

Immediately after a treatment you may experience some redness. This usually disappears within a few hours and you can resume daily activities, according to our Costa Mesa eye doctor’s recommendation.
